Better late than never...
I first discovered deviantART in 2004 when a friend's boyfriend was uploading some of his photography on here. I joined shortly after Christmas and loved how I could escape into a world of incredible images and inspirational artists. I quickly discovered dAmn and #devart
became my little corner of the internet that I could call home.
After a couple of years and a few devMEETs, I was asked to join the team of MN@ and got the chance to work with some fucking brilliant people and have some of the best times. fourteenthstar
introduced me to Porcupine Tree and an obsessive love affair with their music began.
Fast forward nine years and so much of my life has changed. I live in a different city, have been in a relationship for four years and have a full time job. I hardly come on here anymore and I listen to Porcupine Tree even less but I will forever be grateful to dA. I had crippling depression for so many years and the love and warmth from individual people and the community at large undoubtably saved my life.
I have no idea what the future holds for dA and I'm not as invested in the place as I once was but I hope that somewhere out there, another miserable young person is discovering through thumbnails and lines of code that life can be so very, very beautiful.
